About the Role

Lead complex civil infrastructure projects across defence, transport, energy, and land development sectors with responsibility for technical excellence, design management, budget, and schedule. Guide multidisciplinary teams, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to shaping civil engineering practice in South Australia through high-impact projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of civil infrastructure projects across multiple sectors, ensuring technical quality, design oversight, budget adherence, and schedule compliance.
  • Undertake and oversee key design components including stormwater and drainage systems, bulk earthworks, road and pavement design, water and wastewater networks, and utility coordination.
  • Develop and sustain trusted client relationships across government, defence, transport, energy, and property development sectors from initial engagement through project completion.
  • Support high standards in project execution by applying technical verification processes, design governance frameworks, and risk mitigation strategies within commercial project constraints.
  • Coordinate with cross-disciplinary teams and stakeholders to resolve interface issues, manage risks, and ensure rigorous quality control in design documentation and verification.
  • Lead business development initiatives such as identifying new opportunities, planning capture strategies, estimating fees, and preparing proposals.
  • Provide guidance and professional growth support to junior civil engineering staff.

Requirements

  • Advanced technical expertise in civil engineering principles and practices.
  • Proven experience in managing multi-disciplinary civil infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects from initiation through to completion.
  • Strong track record in delivering high-quality civil engineering work.
  • Capability to oversee technical quality, design processes, budget, and project timelines.
  • Experience in core design areas such as stormwater and drainage, earthworks, roads and pavements, water and wastewater systems, and utility coordination.
  • Established success in building and maintaining client relationships across defence, government, transport, energy, and land development sectors.
  • Background in technical verification, design governance, and risk assessment.
  • Experience coordinating across engineering disciplines and stakeholder groups to resolve integration challenges and manage project risks.
  • Involvement in business development activities including opportunity assessment, capture planning, cost estimation, and proposal development.
  • Prior experience mentoring and developing early-career engineers.
