About the Role

Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors is hiring a Principal AI Research Scientist to lead cutting-edge research and strategy, shaping the future of our AI-infused software products. You will collaborate with experts across R&D, engineering, and academia to develop impactful, scalable AI solutions.

What You'll Do

  • Lead exploratory AI/ML research to identify novel product opportunities.
  • Author and present proposals to government and commercial R&D partners.
  • Serve as the AI/ML subject matter expert across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Develop and evaluate algorithms for reasoning over multi-modal and structured data.
  • Guide product direction with advanced insight, balancing innovation with business goals.
  • Collaborate with external researchers and academic institutions to advance AI capabilities.
  • Represent AI advancements internally and externally, including at industry conferences.
  • Mentor junior engineers and data scientists, contributing to a high-performing team culture.
  • Maintain regular customer engagement to incorporate feedback into evolving product strategies.

What We're Looking For

  • PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of ML experience, including academic or research work.
  • Expertise in Python, Jupyter Notebooks, and ML libraries like TensorFlow and PyTorch.
  • Strong grasp of algorithms and techniques like SVM, neural networks, and clustering.
  • Demonstrated experience in proposal writing and business development strategy.
  • Familiarity with RAG methods, cloud platforms (AWS), knowledge graphs, and graph databases.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and passion for innovation in AI.
  • Strong leadership and mentorship skills with the ability to guide R&D teams.
  • Clearance eligibility required (US Citizenship mandatory).
  • Ability to travel up to 20%.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with RDF, Nvidia Triton, Go, or data engineering workflows.

Technical Stack

  • Languages & Tools: Python, Jupyter Notebooks, TensorFlow, PyTorch
  • Platforms & Methods: AWS, RAG methods, Knowledge graphs, Graph databases

  • Salary of $200,000+ annually.
