Fastmarkets is hiring a Price Reporter - Forest Products to produce authoritative price assessments and market intelligence crucial to the North American hardwood industry. In this role, you'll support and develop new avenues to further embed our data and news across the market.
What You'll Do
- Assess hundreds of prices each week using our proprietary database while adhering to published methodologies and IOSCO principles.
- Provide indispensable market commentary that gives context to the prices reported each week.
- Produce market news and analysis for our Hardwood Market Report weekly publication and monthly publications.
- Cultivate new sources for market data while maintaining a vast network of industry contacts.
- Edit copy and peer-review price assessments to ensure compliance with published methodologies.
- Attend industry conferences and events, representing the business through speaking engagements and outreach.
What We're Looking For
- Some professional writing experience, preferably with newspapers or trade journals.
- Ability to be self-motivated in a remote-work environment while collaborating effectively with teams.
- Strong, concise writing and editing skills; ability to write authoritatively and to the point.
- Comfort with numbers, statistics, and data-driven prose.
- Strong interviewing skills and professional phone and email etiquette.
- Ability to meet multiple weekly and daily deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- A highly motivated, driven individual passionate about being part of a fast-paced, successful team.
- A strong team player who is open-minded, curious, resilient, solutions-oriented, and committed to promoting equality.

Team & Environment
You will work within an experienced team of editors, collaborating with colleagues in other parts of the Forest Products business, including analysts and economists. You'll also work with marketing and events teams, reporting to the hardwood team leader.
Work Mode
This is a remote position open to candidates based in Illinois or New York.
