The University of Chicago, a globally renowned research institution, is looking for a Pre-Award Administrator to provide professional support for grant and contract proposals and funding. You will work directly with faculty and research staff to seek funding opportunities, develop proposal budgets, and ensure compliance with agency and university guidelines.
What You'll Do
- Work directly with faculty and research staff to seek new avenues for funding and new grant opportunities.
- Ensure notices of relevant new funding opportunities are brought to the attention of faculty.
- Gather needed documentation and manage the execution of Subawards, Sponsored Consulting Agreements, and Subaward Amendments.
- Work with a broad array of sponsors, interpreting regulations and guidelines of multiple program funding.
- Ensure all applications meet agency and University guidelines.
- Work directly with the PI to develop proposal budgets in accordance with the needs of the research plan and Agency and Institutional Requirements.
- Be responsible for timely submission of applications, renewal/continual amendments, technical reports, just-in-time submissions, no-cost extensions, and Agency required re-budgeting.
- Coordinate with other departments/units/division regarding multi-investigator grant submissions.
- Work closely with Post Award staff to transition grant administration upon award, including updating proposed budget to match Notice of Grant Award.
- Interact with University Research Administration, faculty, postdocs, pre/post-award colleagues, and Financial Services Office personnel.
- Contribute to team effort, assisting colleagues to ensure timely service and performing back-up duties during leaves.
- Handle straightforward post-award activities including account creations, compliance monitoring, salary allocations, effort reporting, grant projections, cost allocations, invoice preparation, and grant closing.
- Prepare summaries of grants and effort allocations for Principal Investigators, meet with them and respond to their questions.
- Coordinate with other departments regarding multi investigator grants.
- Serve as department contact for annual audits and agency site visits.
What We're Looking For
- College or university degree in related field.
- 2-5 years of work experience in a related job discipline.
Nice to Have
- Bachelor's Degree in related field.
- Five years of progressively responsible grant/contract and financial administration in an academic setting.
- Experience with budgets, ledgers, invoices, and fiscal reporting.
- Experience in one or more aspects of sponsored program administration in a research environment.
- Experience with accounting systems.
Team & Environment
You will be a member of a team (Pre Award - Team C) within the Biological Sciences Division Research Administration Office.
Benefits & Compensation
- Compensation: $75,000.00 - $100,000.00
