This position is responsible for evaluating the effectiveness and compliance of agency policies and programs in alignment with current federal and state laws. The analyst conducts in-depth research into operational processes, identifying redundancies and inefficiencies, and develops actionable recommendations to enhance program performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Examine existing and proposed policies and programs to assess efficiency, compliance, and alignment with statutory requirements.
- Identify gaps, overlaps, or duplication in procedures across departments and recommend practical improvements.
- Analyze the impact of proposed changes in federal or state regulations on current agency operations and policies.
- Support strategic planning by applying process improvement methodologies to collect and interpret data relevant to business operations.
- Review emerging best practices and evaluate their applicability to agency functions.
- Prepare detailed reports, proposals, and analyses on business challenges and present findings to leadership.
- Advise agency decision-makers on complex issues affecting policy implementation and procedural design.
Qualifications
Candidates must have seven years of professional experience in fields such as public administration, economics, program design, or business administration. A Bachelor’s Degree in a related field may substitute for up to four years of experience. Required expertise includes policy and program analysis, data collection and interpretation, and knowledge of public sector management principles including budgeting and financial oversight.
Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, and database software is essential. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are necessary to evaluate complex issues and present viable alternatives. The ability to perform core responsibilities, with or without reasonable accommodation, is required.
Compensation & Benefits
The salary for this role typically begins at $59,800, adjusted based on education and experience. Benefits include multiple health plan options with prescription coverage, vision and dental, and a health savings account with state contributions. Employees contribute to a deferred compensation 457(b) plan with employer matching and choose from two fully funded pension plans.
