Tyk Technologies is looking for a Platform Engineer to be a key individual contributor designing, building, and operating our production-grade platform and release engineering systems. We need a proactive, results-oriented professional with a security-first mindset to drive technical excellence and DevOps transformation.
What You'll Do
- Design, build, and operate production-grade platform and release engineering systems.
- Drive technical excellence and DevOps transformation across teams.
- Take ownership and drive initiatives independently with minimal supervision.
- Identify and prioritize systemic problems before they escalate.
- Work as a sole or primary technical owner for critical production systems and infrastructure.
- Operate and design platform tooling, release systems, and production Kubernetes environments at scale.
- Develop robust CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and configuration management.
- Support compliance frameworks and maintain a security-first development mindset.
- Leverage AI-assisted tools to improve engineering throughput while implementing security controls.
What We're Looking For
- Proven ability to take full ownership, drive initiatives independently, and deliver results with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated skill in identifying and prioritizing systemic problems before they escalate.
- Experience working as a sole or primary technical owner for critical production systems and infrastructure.
- Extensive hands-on experience operating and designing platform tooling, release systems, and production Kubernetes environments at scale.
- Expertise in release engineering and developing robust CI/CD pipelines (e.g., using GitHub Actions).
- Proficient in using tools like Terraform and Helm for IaC, and Ansible/cloud-init for configuration management.
- Required expertise with AWS.
- Strong technical decision-making ability and professional Go development experience, including CGO on Linux.
- Experience with packaging systems for Linux (RPM, DEB) and developing container image build processes.
- Experience supporting compliance frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, SOC2) and a security-first development mindset.
- Experience leveraging AI-assisted tools to improve engineering throughput while maintaining stability and implementing security controls.
- Demonstrated ability to drive DevOps transformation and embed platform engineering best practices across teams.
- Understanding of distributed systems and core reliability principles.
- Exceptional self-management, prioritization, and strong cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Excellent communication skills across technical levels and a vocal, opinionated approach to challenging the status quo.
- Deep understanding of software engineering best practices, including unit testing, code reviews, TDD, and SOLID principles.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with Azure/GCP is a plus.
