ZF Friedrichshafen AG is hiring a Physical Validation Engineer to lead the validation and release process for the development of steering systems and products. You will act as the cross-functional lead overseeing simulation, physical component and system validation, NVH, and prototyping within the Chassis Solutions Division (CDS) team.
What You'll Do
- Manage validation and release processes for steering systems.
- Oversee within the CDS team simulation, physical component and system validation, NVH, prototyping, product testing, data analysis, and test report preparation.
- Manage resource and budget planning, monitoring, and control.
- Manage the full development, testing, and validation of the system within the CDS team, including advanced planning and tracking of validation progress across mechanics, hydraulics, and electronics.
- Consolidate test strategies and methods, plan and support their implementation (Validation Concept, Design Verification Plan, simulation and test).
- Report and escalate to project and program management, evaluating risk and managing problem-solving.
- Work with a cross-functional team to execute programs and deliver to the agreed schedule.
- Work with project stakeholders to maintain program timing and overall system and customer requirements.
- Support customer communications relative to validation activities, define and agree on project scope, and manage the project to the agreed scope.
- Act as the primary technical interface with ZF customers regarding overall testing.
- Maintain a strong focus on rolling out lean validation and hybrid/virtual release methods.
What We're Looking For
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field.
- Previous background in test management, project management, or project coordination practices and experiences.
- Knowledge and experience in testing and data analysis, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated and motivating others, people-oriented, and takes ownership.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Experience or knowledge of engineering principles as related to steering systems or mechatronic systems.
- Knowledge of automotive standards and automotive experience (ISO26262, A-Spice).
- Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal).
- Experience in dealing with customers, flexibility, teamwork, and presentation skills.
Nice to Have
- ISTQB qualification (Certified Tester / Test Manager) is a plus.
