The E.W. Scripps Company is hiring a Photographer / Editor for its KGTV ABC affiliate in San Diego. You will capture visual stories and edit newscasts to deliver compelling content for the community. This role is central to our mission of creating connections and reflecting the audiences we serve.
What You'll Do
- Capture and edit visual content for multiple platforms.
- Operate and maintain live equipment, including microwave, satellite, and related news-gathering gear.
- Work in tandem with newsroom personnel to create and develop news stories.
- Edit newscasts daily.
What We're Looking For
- Proficiency with lighting and computer-based editing.
- Proficiency with live truck operation.
- Proficiency with editing stories and newscasts.
- Knowledge and demonstration of creativity, editorial judgment, journalistic ethics, and libel laws.
- Knowledge of and proficiency in posting content to the station's websites.
- Able to work efficiently under multiple deadlines on a daily basis.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Valid driver's license, good driving record, and ability to provide proof of insurance with the company's required limits.
Nice to Have
- Associate's degree in a related discipline.
- Generally, 2+ years of experience in a related field.
