MedWiz of New Jersey LLC is hiring a Staff Pharmacist to play a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective use of medications. Reporting to the Head PIC, you will be responsible for dispensing prescriptions, providing patient education, and collaborating with healthcare professionals to optimize patient care.
What You'll Do
- Perform initial review and clinical verification of prescriptions, checking for drug interactions and clinical issues.
- Conduct final verification on filled medications to ensure accuracy and quality.
- Ensure accurate entry and verification of all prescriptions.
- Manage controlled medication inventory per DEA regulations, including documentation and ordering.
- Utilize MedBank for prescription verification and controlled medication emergency dispensing.
- Conduct daily checks on emergency kits, MedBank cubes, and DOSIS canisters for stock and expiration.
- Review prescriptions and contact facilities or prescribers to resolve issues.
- Monitor workflow to ensure prescriptions are filled accurately and on time.
- Evaluate orders held for payer issues and determine if an emergency supply is needed.
- Prepare and oversee sterile and non-sterile compounding as required.
- Handle telephone orders from prescribers.
- Address inquiries from technicians and provide guidance on pharmacy procedures.
- Manage electronic communications with staff and facilities, ensuring timely responses.
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation.
What We're Looking For
- Doctorate of Pharmacy (PharmD).
- Active State Pharmacist license.
- State license to handle medication.
- 1-3 years of pharmaceutical experience, or an equivalent mix of education and experience.
- Intermediate proficiency with pharmacy software, specifically Pyxis Medbank and Frameworks.
- Ability to read, interpret, and write medication documentation and procedure manuals.
- Ability to speak effectively in person and by telephone.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical operations and compute rates, ratios, and percentages.
- Ability to understand and interpret statistical reports, data charts, and graphs.
- Predictable, reliable, and punctual attendance.
- Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus, and ability to match or detect color differences.
Nice to Have
- 2-4 years of long-term care pharmacy experience.
- Experience with long-term care pharmacy software.
