Fundamental is hiring its first People Operations Manager. As the initial People hire, you will build the foundational people infrastructure to support our next stage of growth. You will work closely with the founders and leadership team to design and own People Operations end-to-end, from onboarding and employee experience to performance processes and compliance.
What You'll Do
- Partner closely with founders to build and scale People Ops infrastructure from the ground up.
- Own the full employee lifecycle: onboarding, engagement, development, and offboarding.
- Handle employee-related administrative operations, including visa sponsorship, work permits, contracts, and maintaining employee records.
- Own HR operations, including payroll, benefits, HRIS, and documentation.
- Manage compliance and employment processes across relevant regions.
- Act as a trusted partner to employees on people-related topics.
- Help embed simple, effective performance management and feedback frameworks.
- Proactively identify people and culture needs as the company scales.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in People Operations or HR roles, ideally in a startup or high-growth environment.
- Experience as an early or first People hire, or operating in a lean organization.
- Strong operational mindset with the ability to execute hands-on.
- Excellent communication skills and high emotional intelligence.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and building processes from scratch.
- Proactive, ownership-driven, and execution-focused.
- Strong grounding in employment law (US required; international exposure a plus).
- Comfortable using tools such as Deel and modern HR tech.
