The University of Toronto is hiring a People Analyst to join the Division of People Strategy, Equity & Culture. Under the general direction of the Manager, HR Research & Reporting, you will provide a broad range of support for specialized reporting and data automation initiatives that impact HR practices and policies across the University.
What You'll Do
- Assist with ad hoc requests for HR reports by querying and combining data from disparate sources including SAP ECC, SuccessFactors, and ServiceNow, with a heavy emphasis on leveraging SpinifexIT for creating custom reports in SAP.
- Maintain and update the Division's data and reporting products.
- Develop business intelligence dashboards using tools such as Power BI and Tableau from various HR data sources.
- Automate workflows using tools such as Power Automate.
- Provide support on data pipeline projects, including testing and data cleanup, often leveraging software solutions such as Azure Data Factory.
- Participate in the advancement of projects and undertake initiatives and daily activities that require knowledge of confidential information impacting staff in all employee groups.
What We're Looking For
- A University degree with some postsecondary education in commerce, statistics, computer science, mathematics, human resources management, or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in a Data Analyst, People Analyst, or Business Intelligence role within a heavily unionized, post-secondary environment.
- Demonstrated experience analyzing large human resources datasets from multiple sources and providing data-driven consultation to stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience extracting, combining, and manipulating data from disparate enterprise systems such as SAP ECC, SuccessFactors, and ServiceNow.
- Experience using SpinifexIT to create custom reports in SAP ECC.
- Experience formulating hypotheses, interpreting complex human resources data results, and effectively communicating actionable insights.
- Experience applying predictive analytics, data mining, or advanced people analytics methodologies.
- Experience working with collective agreements, HR policies, procedures, and processes.
- Experience leading or supporting data projects and initiatives.
- Advanced proficiency in data visualization and Business Intelligence (BI) tools such as Tableau and Power BI.
- Proficiency with workflow and process automation solutions like Power Automate.
- Demonstrated experience with ETL/data pipeline tools such as Azure Data Factory (ADF).
- Advanced skills in large-scale spreadsheet/data manipulation software.
- Familiarity with statistical software or programming languages for data analysis (e.g., R, Python, SPSS).
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and advanced research skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication, presentation, interpersonal, organizational and problem solving skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information, demonstrating tact, diplomacy and judgement.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive and cooperative working relationships, especially during difficult situations.
- Ability to explain technical concepts and complex regulations to a non-technical audience.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Ability to manage a fluctuating workload, under pressure, and to meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated initiative and ability to work both independently and within a team environment.

Benefits & Compensation
- Salary range: $83,560 - $139,264 (Hiring Zone: $83,560 - $97,486).
Work Mode
This is an onsite position located at the St. George (Downtown Toronto) campus.
