About the Role

Per diem nursing instructor responsible for delivering pediatric and obstetric clinical education, evaluating student performance, and supporting program outcomes in alignment with curriculum standards and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver clinical education to students in the assigned workforce development program location.
  • Provide instruction in the skills laboratory or clinical environment aligned with curriculum guidelines and faculty expertise.
  • Apply teaching methods appropriate for adult learners.
  • Plan and oversee student clinical experiences at designated healthcare facilities.
  • Assess student performance based on clinical learning objectives, following established nursing department policies.
  • Offer timely feedback on clinical performance or specific observed events.
  • Support maintenance of student records by accurately tracking clinical and skills lab attendance, completed skills check-offs, and contributing to program outcome data collection.
  • Ensure clinical placements meet both student training needs and facility requirements.
  • Determine the most effective approaches for observing, teaching, and evaluating students.
  • Continuously work to enhance instructional quality.
  • Demonstrate or be open to developing skills in using online tools to support interactive teaching and learning.
  • Submit required reports and documentation to the Academic Site Director promptly.
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies and safety standards.
  • Participate in program-related committee work as needed to support program goals.
  • Attend scheduled faculty meetings.
  • Offer students consistent access for communication through office hours, electronic means, or other appropriate methods.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree required.
  • Experience in pediatric and obstetric nursing care.
  • Capable of delivering clinical education to nursing students.
  • Able to plan and supervise clinical training in healthcare settings.
  • Skilled in evaluating student performance in clinical environments.
  • Able to provide prompt feedback on clinical performance.
  • Proficient in maintaining accurate student records, including attendance and skills verification forms.
  • Committed to improving instructional effectiveness.
  • Willing to incorporate online learning activities to support course content.
  • Able to submit required documentation and reports on time.
  • Dedicated to staying current with technological advances and safety protocols.
  • Willing to engage in committee work as needed.
  • Willing to attend regular faculty meetings.
  • Able to provide students with ongoing communication access through office hours or digital channels.

Compensation

Pay Range: $55-$70/hr DOE

Team

Instructor role operating in coordination with Unitek College and Community Health Systems.

Additional Information

  • Work hours vary depending on clinical rotation or skills lab schedule.
  • Clinical rotations may occur during days, evenings, weekends, or a mix of shifts.
  • This is a per diem position.
