GE HealthCare is looking for a PCS Field Engineer Apprentice to join our service team. In this role, you will observe and perform equipment service processes to ensure the proper functionality of Patient Care Solutions (PCS) medical equipment within a hospital or healthcare system.
What You'll Do
- Work within a hospital environment to evaluate, troubleshoot, and implement repairs on Patient Care Solutions equipment.
- Complete Preventative Maintenance on designated equipment.
- Perform safety and environmental inspections to ensure compliance with Health and Human Services and Environmental Health and Safety guidelines.
- Complete all necessary service and repair documentation following hospital and GEHC policies.
- Maintain daily communications with customers to ensure resolution and customer satisfaction.
- Learn and ensure proper care, calibration, and maintenance of tools and test equipment.
- Enhance technical knowledge of current standards, codes, and procedures for the safe use of medical equipment.
- Mentor with and assist more experienced technicians on progressive repairs.
- Work as a member of the local team to provide efficient service delivery.
- Complete all planned Quality and Compliance training on time.
- Identify and report any customer quality or compliance concerns immediately.
- Aware of and comply with the GEHC Quality Manual, Quality Management System, and all applicable laws and regulations.
What We're Looking For
- An AS, BS, MS degree, military education, certificate program, current student within 12 months of completion, OR a High School Diploma/GED with 6 months of experience servicing electronic, IT, or mechanical equipment.
- Experience or coursework successfully interpreting schematic diagrams and performing troubleshooting and planned maintenance on basic diagnostic imaging or electronic equipment.
- Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 35 lbs unassisted; frequently bend, stoop, twist, climb, crouch, kneel, sit, and stand for long periods; and have good hand and finger dexterity with specific vision abilities.
- Compliance with GEHC’s standard background check, including a post-offer drug test.
- Compliance with all customer access policies, including proof of immunizations and additional background checks.
- May not relocate more than 30 miles from your current location without manager approval.
Nice to Have
- Previous experience interpreting schematic diagrams and performing effective repair and planned maintenance on basic biomedical or electronic equipment.
- Analytical and communication skills to explain technical issues to customers clearly.
- Ability to develop and maintain good customer relations.
- Experience interfacing with internal team members and external customers in a service process.
- Experience diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electromechanical, and/or electronic equipment, with knowledge of electronic digital circuitry.
- Change agent and process oriented.
- Local candidates strongly preferred.

This is an onsite position based in either Austin, TX or Houston, TX.
