Northwestern Memorial Healthcare is looking for a Patient Services Representative to join the NIU Student Health team on a part-time, days schedule. In this role, you’ll perform essential customer service and administrative functions, ensuring the highest level of support for patients and company representatives.
What You'll Do
- Greet patients as they enter the office.
- Perform patient registration, verifying insurance and collecting co-pays or outstanding balances.
- Obtain and update patient demographic and company information.
- Answer phones and schedule appointments.
- Direct and document patient calls appropriately.
- Coordinate scheduling for outside patient testing.
- Serve as a liaison between patients and the practice.
- Provide back-up for scheduling appointments.
- Complete daily reconciliation reports to ensure accurate charge entry.
- Pull and prepare charts for next-day appointments; file completed charts daily.
- File test and procedure results in patient records after physician sign-off.
- Liaise with company representatives to ensure correct services are provided.
- Review Epic charts prior to appointments, confirming consents and insurance are current.
- Respond to medical record requests from patients, insurers, and legal entities per protocol.
What We're Looking For
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- One to three years of prior experience in a physician’s office.
Nice to Have
- Experience with medical office coding.
- Previous customer service experience.
