MGH Cancer Center Early Detection Program
Waltham, MA
Monday-Friday, 3 days remote once fully trained
Job Summary
Performs administrative and clinical functions to support seamless clinical service operations with minimal supervision. Handles patient visit-related administrative duties including comprehensive scheduling, check-in/check-out processes at the highest proficiency level. Specific job duties may vary by department.
Essential Functions:
- Manage routine administrative and clerical tasks for clinical services or physician practices. Schedule patient appointments, maintain appointment records, assist callers with inquiries, and process patient billing forms
- Serve as "Super User" for scheduling, registration, and billing systems. Provide system assistance and training to team members
- Perform advanced scheduling functions like surgical scheduling and complex schedule modifications
- Provide functional guidance to Office and Practice Assistants
- Collaborate with Supervisor to oversee daily practice staff activities
- Handle co-payments, screen messages, manage prior authorizations, provider questions, prescription refills, and test results
Qualifications
Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent required
Experience in lieu of degree: No
Office experience: 3-5 years required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Advanced MS Office skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Comprehensive understanding of office operations, procedures, and standards
- Proficient in phone system management and handling complex communications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to comprehend and process work-related documents effectively
- Excellent time management and organizational capabilities
- Skilled at proofreading and editing written documents
