Join Corewell Health as a Patient Attendant, where you will play a vital role in delivering personalized health care. You will be responsible for the safe and timely transportation of patients, specimens, and medication throughout the hospital, ensuring a supportive and secure experience for our patients.
What You'll Do
- Transport patients safely, timely, and efficiently, which may include assisting with lifting patients on and off beds.
- Recognize if a patient is experiencing stress or other issues during transport and immediately seek assistance.
- Monitor O2, IVs, catheters, etc. and alert appropriate personnel with problems 100% of the time.
- Inform supervisor/dispatcher of all delays within 10 minutes.
- Maintain transport equipment in a clean, safe, and orderly manner and return all equipment to the appropriate location.
- Maintain and complete all departmental records, complete proper handoff before removing patient from department/unit.
- Check all patient ID bands and complete two patient identifiers prior to transportation.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures.
- Understand and demonstrate safe lifting and transport techniques.
- Know and practice universal precautions as appropriate.
- Interact with courtesy, tact, empathy, and professionalism with patients, families, staff, physicians, and management.
- Understand and follow direction, and comply with HIPAA confidentiality requirements.
- Transport specimens, oxygen, stretchers, and other items as assigned.
- Actively participate in safety initiatives and risk mitigating measures and complete all position and unit safety related competencies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA American Heart Association or ARC American Red Cross upon hire
- Demonstrated communication skills to interact with courtesy, tact, empathy, and professionalism
