Amgen Inc. is hiring a Patient Access Liaison - PROCYSBI - Western Region (Rare Disease)

About the Role

Amgen is hiring a Patient Access Liaison for PROCYSBI to serve patients in the Western Region. In this field-based role, you will provide critical logistical, non-medical educational support to patients, caregivers, and site of care staff to facilitate patient access to rare disease therapy. You will be part of our mission-driven team dedicated to serving patients living with serious illnesses.

What You'll Do

  • Provide logistical, non-medical educational assistance to patients, caregivers, physicians, nurses, office managers, and executives.
  • Support and educate patients and caregivers about PROCYSBI and patient services, including product support, dosing, administration, and reimbursement services.
  • Provide reimbursement education and support to physician’s offices with emphasis on reimbursement support services.
  • Secure written opt-in and HIPAA waivers to the patient support program for patients in the region.
  • Maintain contact with patients who have opted-in and ensure excellent customer service.
  • Connect patients with insurance resources when necessary to ensure continuity of care.
  • Help patients and families resolve logistical challenges with insurance and pharmacies.
  • Respond immediately to patient and family questions and concerns; resolve patient/caregiver issues.
  • Connect patients with appropriate financial assistance programs, if eligible.
  • Connect patients with external support programs that may be available in the region, as needed.
  • Partner with Safety and PV and report AE’s and product complaints through medical information.
  • Adhere to professional standards compliance guidance, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Represent Horizon at external meetings.
  • Coordinate with case managers and home office commercial team.

What We're Looking For

  • Doctorate degree AND 2 years of Sales/Account Management OR direct patient care experience
  • OR Master's degree AND 4 years of Sales/Account Management OR direct patient care experience
  • OR Bachelor's degree AND 6 years of Sales/Account Management OR direct patient care experience
  • Strong knowledge and proven work history of access and reimbursement for buy and bill/infused pharmaceutical products
  • Familiarity with and Adherence to internal and OIG Compliance guidelines
  • Ability to handle difficult patient cases and resolve hurdles.
  • Ability to work in team environment and manage communication with case Liaisons and sales reps.
  • Ability to respond immediately when necessary (within 24 hours) to prevent lapses in treatment.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to report on meaningful activity in the region.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Professional, proactive demeanor.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Potential for up to 50% travel, including some overnight and weekend commitments.

Nice to Have

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English
  • Scientific background and ability to learn product and disease information.
  • Nursing or other clinical background.
  • Orphan or Rare disease experience.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA guidelines and FDA requirements.

This is a field-based position, working in a strong team environment with numerous internal teams including Market Access, Medical Affairs, Advocacy, Marketing, and Site of Care.

  • Compensation: $169,028.00 - $198,585.00 USD
