Seeking a skilled PACS Administrator to join as a short-term contractor during a critical upgrade to our enterprise imaging infrastructure. This role is central to maintaining the performance and reliability of medical image management systems throughout a large-scale migration effort.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor core elements of the PACS and archival systems—including queues, logs, and display stations—to proactively identify and address performance issues
- Take corrective actions or advise on-site teams to maintain optimal system health and availability
- Ensure medical images are accurately stored, accessible, and preserved in full fidelity across all platforms
- Diagnose and resolve technical problems at both the system and individual study levels
- Work closely with clinical and technical stakeholders across departments to support integrations that improve radiology workflows
- Support implementation tasks related to new imaging applications, tools, and system enhancements
- Process requests for exporting specialized image datasets in compliance with clinical and operational requirements
- Use expertise in HL7 and DICOM protocols to troubleshoot connectivity errors and messaging failures
- Perform system updates and maintenance activities outside regular business hours to minimize clinical disruption
Qualifications
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in a technical or healthcare-related field
- Minimum of five years of hands-on experience with Merative Merge PACS, including current system administration
- Proven ability to interface with Merge PACS and archival solutions
- Working knowledge of SQL for querying and analyzing system data
- Experience supporting PowerScribe for radiology reporting and speech recognition workflows
- Strong familiarity with RIS platforms and radiology department operations
- Proficiency in diagnosing and resolving HL7 and DICOM communication issues
- Track record of collaborating effectively with vendors and technical partners
Work Environment
This is a hybrid contractor position with potential for remote work. The schedule may require after-hours availability to support system changes and minimize impact on clinical services.
