Sonoco is looking for a Packer II to join our Reels & Plugs facility. In this role, you will perform all necessary functions to pack and prepare products for shipment. Your primary focus will be to increase productivity while maintaining our high workplace safety standards.
What You'll Do
- Safely move materials by hand or using material handling equipment (MHE) such as carts, pallet jacks, and fork trucks.
- Place materials and finished products in storage areas, containers, or on conveyors.
- Ensure compliance with established internal control procedures.
- Maintain accurate records and logbooks.
- Report defective materials or equipment.
- Generally report accidents, injuries, or unsafe working conditions.
- Load/unload trucks & carriers manually and/or using hoists.
- Apply identification labels to products and packages.
- Pack and unpack materials, products, or supplies.
- Perform simple repair and/or maintenance tasks.
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent experience required.
- Ability to read and write English language.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Basic computer skills required.
Nice to Have
- Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
