Travelers is hiring an Outside Auto Appraiser

About the Role

What You'll DoConduct on-site inspections of damaged vehicles to assess physical damage and determine repair or total loss valuations. Use estimating software and technical knowledge to prepare accurate appraisals in alignment with regulatory and company standards. Coordinate with claim professionals throughout the lifecycle of each case, from initial evaluation to final settlement, ensuring clear communication and timely follow-up.

For total loss cases, calculate settlement amounts and initiate payments within authorized limits. Maintain accurate reserves and documentation, including detailed notes and action plans to track repair progress. High school diploma or GED with at least one year of experience in auto appraisal. A valid driver’s license is required. Proficiency with Windows, Excel, and Word is essential. Candidates must be able to travel locally to inspect vehicles and may be required to relocate or travel on short notice for catastrophe response assignments.

Commitment to ongoing learning and compliance with state licensing requirements, including obtaining and maintaining an insurance license within three months of hire, is expected.
