Hero Practice Services was looking for an Optometric Technician

Hero Practice Services is seeking an Optometric Technician to administer visual tests, operate diagnostic equipment, and assist with eyewear fittings. You will play a key role in our mission of providing high-quality and compassionate vision services to underserved children.

What You'll Do

  • Understand, monitor, and ensure the smooth execution of office processes, including coding, optometric materials, insurance benefits, patient collection, and documentation.
  • Call patients regarding appointment confirmations, reminders, cancellations, no-shows, and recalls.
  • Support optometrists during eye exams by preparing patients, performing initial pre-tests, and recording results.
  • Accompany patients and parents during exams to pre-test the patient and assist the Optometrist in scribing and finding a good fit for glasses.
  • Perform vision tests such as visual acuity, color vision, stereo, confrontations, pupils, ICT, and administer dilation drops.
  • Help patients select frames and lenses based on prescriptions.
  • Process patient payments during check-in and check-out.
  • Ensure the practice is clean and presentable to patients, including cleaning restrooms, the patient lobby, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting.
  • Participate in other duties that support the mission of providing high-quality and compassionate services.

What We're Looking For

  • Ability to tech, scribe, and perform optometric tasks.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Proficiency in EHR systems.
  • Ability to train and lead a team of Optometric Assistants.
  • Ability to multitask and complete tasks correctly and on time.

Nice to Have

  • Previous experience in a vision practice.
  • Knowledge of optometric online software/database, Intero Order processing systems, Google Docs, and Document Portal Spreadsheet software.
  • Bilingual proficiency.

Benefits & Compensation

  • Compensation: $16-$22/hr
