Hero Practice Services is seeking an Optometric Technician to administer visual tests, operate diagnostic equipment, and assist with eyewear fittings. You will play a key role in our mission of providing high-quality and compassionate vision services to underserved children.
What You'll Do
- Understand, monitor, and ensure the smooth execution of office processes, including coding, optometric materials, insurance benefits, patient collection, and documentation.
- Call patients regarding appointment confirmations, reminders, cancellations, no-shows, and recalls.
- Support optometrists during eye exams by preparing patients, performing initial pre-tests, and recording results.
- Accompany patients and parents during exams to pre-test the patient and assist the Optometrist in scribing and finding a good fit for glasses.
- Perform vision tests such as visual acuity, color vision, stereo, confrontations, pupils, ICT, and administer dilation drops.
- Help patients select frames and lenses based on prescriptions.
- Process patient payments during check-in and check-out.
- Ensure the practice is clean and presentable to patients, including cleaning restrooms, the patient lobby, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting.
- Participate in other duties that support the mission of providing high-quality and compassionate services.
What We're Looking For
- Ability to tech, scribe, and perform optometric tasks.
- Strong communication skills.
- Proficiency in EHR systems.
- Ability to train and lead a team of Optometric Assistants.
- Ability to multitask and complete tasks correctly and on time.
Nice to Have
- Previous experience in a vision practice.
- Knowledge of optometric online software/database, Intero Order processing systems, Google Docs, and Document Portal Spreadsheet software.
- Bilingual proficiency.
