Par Pacific, a growth-oriented energy company, is hiring an Operations Superintendent to oversee the day-to-day operation of our refinery. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will supervise the on-shift team to achieve safety, environmental, production, quality, and reliability objectives.
What You'll Do
- Provide and address technical issues and plans for the Operations Department.
- Supervise on-shift Operations team members, including the day coordinator, front-line supervisors, and hourly workforce.
- Partner with HR on Talent Acquisition, Performance Management, Employee Relations, and Labor Relations matters.
- Execute refinery movements and blending programs to meet established goals.
- Set direction and lead the implementation of optimization improvements.
- Monitor daily refinery activities to ensure safe operating limits, environmental permit compliance, and production plan adherence.
- Apprise management of significant incidents and potential operational problems.
- Ensure compliance with requirements, including maintaining necessary manuals and inspections.
- Oversee the issuance of necessary daily orders and notices.
- Actively participate in Refinery Process Safety Management processes such as Safe Work Permitting, Emergency Response, and Incident Investigation.
- Work with the Operations Manager to develop refinery-specific objectives aligning with safety, regulatory compliance, reliability, and efficiency targets.
- Manage turnaround scoping, execution, and schedule tracking.
- Serve as incident commander during emergency response and as on-site specialist for Emergency Responders.
- Participate as a member of the Operations leadership team, collaborating to develop operations procedures.
- Coordinate on-shift fact-finding and investigations to determine the root cause of safety, environmental, and process disruption events.
- Participate in recruiting Operator Trainees and Shift Supervisors.
- Review and analyze refinery performance reports to determine causes and preventive actions for non-conformity.
What We're Looking For
- Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States without visa sponsorship.
- Eligibility to obtain a TWIC card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential).
- High School diploma or GED.
Nice to Have
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
- 7 years of oil refining operations experience.
- Front-line supervisory experience.
- Experience in labor relations with a union workforce.
Team & Environment
You will report to the Operations Manager and be part of the Operations leadership team. Your direct responsibility is supervising the on-shift operations team, which includes a day coordinator, front-line supervisors, and an hourly workforce.
Work Mode
This position is onsite at the refinery.
