Celestica is hiring an Operations Manager to provide direct and indirect supervision to teams performing diverse roles within a large manufacturing site. You will establish long-term objectives, develop policies, and be accountable for projects on a multi-functional, national, or regional basis.
What You'll Do
- Manage a team of professionals providing expertise in engineering operations in support of production business units.
- Manage engineering projects for development and production, including project definition, resource allocation, budget management, and schedule management.
- Communicate progress and results to senior management and customers.
- Work with Corporate and other Technical Managers to develop a process for staffing projects based on customer demands and industry trends.
- Manage a team responsible for establishing and maintaining sources of supply for mechanical parts and assemblies.
- Resolve all technical issues with suppliers and drive continuous quality improvement of purchased material.
- Work closely with customers’ supply chain management and development organizations.
- Act as an internal consultant in CDM application systems & processes to all sites regionally/globally and provide integration support to new sites.
- Develop solutions based on existing knowledge to ensure best-of-breed solutions in areas like product/engineering data exchange and data integrity.
- Assist in contract negotiations with SCM and Engineering management.
- Represent CDM and support all sites in NPI/NCI/Bid process development and execution.
- Assist or lead the design and development of global CDM strategies, identifying gaps between current and best practices.
- Lead cross-functional global teams including consultants and vendors to develop leading-edge solutions.
- Manage, lead, and develop a group of CDM employees.
What We're Looking For
- Nine plus years of relevant experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Engineering Foundation Competencies.
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of manufacturing processes and equipment.
- In-depth knowledge of quality improvement practices and techniques.
- Ability to plan for and coordinate a wide variety of resources to meet production quality and quantity metrics.
- Ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of internal and external customers.
- Ability to effectively lead, manage, train, coach, and motivate a diverse group of employees to achieve high production levels within tight time deadlines.
- Excellent negotiation, problem resolution, and project management skills.
- Strong analytical and statistical skills.
Nice to Have
- Advanced studies in Business, Operations, or Technology.
- Understanding of competitor's pricing models.
- Knowledge of competitive benchmarks for pricing of specific product types.
- Knowledge of mechanical parts manufacturing processes.
- Ability to plan strategically for the coordinated delivery of a variety of materials.
