Monzo is looking for an Operational Risk Analyst to provide second-line oversight of our Operational Risk Management Framework. In this role, you will be analyzing risk data, supporting assurance reviews, and helping ensure the bank grows fast and in control. We're building a new kind of bank—one that solves customer problems, treats customers fairly, and is totally transparent.
What You'll Do
- Provide second-line oversight of issues, actions, and controls monitoring.
- Analyze Operational Risk data such as incidents and external regulation to provide insights and identify trends.
- Apply strong data analysis skills to update, maintain, and monitor risk data in Google Sheets and Looker.
- Support the implementation and operation of Monzo’s risk management framework by helping to embed oversight and monitoring.
- Support managers to conduct in-depth assurance and change reviews through data collection, analysis, and concise reports.
- Monitor Operational Risk channels to ensure support and guidance is provided and material risks are escalated appropriately.
- Support our Operational Risk Managers on key projects that have an impact across the business.
- Drive management of our team actions, agendas, documentation, and coordinate team events.

- Proficiency when working with data, using SQL and/or databases/dashboards like Looker or BigQuery.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced environment where you may need to quickly change priorities.
- A curious and collaborative nature, great at asking incisive questions to pick things up and act quickly.
- Interest in reviewing risk assessments and control gap assessments in financial or technology environments.
- Not afraid of providing insightful challenges whilst building strong, respectful relationships.

- Experience in the retail banking or technology environment.

Team & Environment
You will join a close-knit Operational Risk team led by our Director and report directly to a Senior Operational Risk Manager.

- Salary: £44,600 - £50,000 + share options.

Work Mode
This role can be based in our Cardiff or London offices, or be fully remote within the UK.
