Blue Water Thinking is seeking an Onboarding Specialist to support a major project at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). In this role, you will coordinate the onboarding process for staff supporting VA task orders, ensuring all documentation is accurate and new hires are fully prepared for their assignments.
What You'll Do
- Coordinate onboarding activities for new staff joining VA task orders.
- Track and manage the submission of all required documentation, including security forms and training certificates.
- Communicate with incoming staff to guide them through onboarding requirements.
- Serve as a liaison between new staff, internal teams, and VA representatives to resolve issues.
- Maintain accurate records and track candidate status throughout the onboarding process.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable VA policies and procedures.
- Provide regular onboarding status updates to program managers and leadership.
- Assist in improving and streamlining onboarding processes and documentation.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- 2+ years of experience in onboarding, HR coordination, or administrative support.
- Experience with the VA Onboarding process.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple processes.
- Experience coordinating onboarding in a government or contracting environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a federal public trust clearance.
Nice to Have
- Experience supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) or other federal clients.
- Familiarity with government onboarding processes and security clearance documentation.
- Experience using onboarding or applicant tracking systems.
