What You'll DoLead the development and implementation of methane mitigation strategies within the oil and gas sector, focusing on policy design and regulatory engagement. Conduct in-depth research to inform effective regulations, and translate technical findings into actionable insights for government agencies and stakeholders. Draft policy submissions, regulatory comments, and technical materials that support strong methane controls.
Work directly with public officials to strengthen regulatory capacity and support adoption of science-based standards. Use analytical tools such as the Country Methane Abatement Tool (CoMAT) and marginal abatement cost curves to model emissions and assess policy impact. Develop training materials and lead workshops to build understanding among key actors, including government representatives, NGOs, and industry experts.
Represent the organization in international forums, coordinating with coalitions and cross-sector partners to advance shared objectives. Collaborate with internal teams to align regional strategies and share technical knowledge. Help refine advocacy approaches by identifying best practices and lessons learned across jurisdictions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred
- Minimum of six years of professional experience in fossil fuels, climate policy, or environmental regulation
- Proven background in methane or greenhouse gas policy research, development, or implementation
- Familiarity with international climate and energy frameworks, with regional expertise in Europe, the Middle East, or North Africa
- Experience engaging with government agencies or international institutions
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret technical data and economic models
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities with precision
- Experience building relationships across civil society, industry, and government sectors
- Proficiency in technical writing and policy analysis
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in environmental science, energy, public policy, or related field
- Fluency in Arabic, Portuguese, or Russian (C2 level)
- Track record in climate policy formulation or environmental advocacy
- Experience working within or alongside government institutions
- Background in NGO collaboration or partnership development
