Gersh Autism Careers is seeking an Occupational Therapist to provide essential therapy support to children in grades K-12. In this role, you will independently review outcomes and modify intervention programs, with a focus on screening, evaluation, and therapeutic intervention for students with disabilities.
What You'll Do
- Collaborate with other disciplines to ensure team understanding of student occupational performance strengths and needs.
- Evaluate the student’s ability and formulate an occupational profile through assessments, observation, and interviews.
- Synthesize evaluation results into comprehensive written reports to guide program development and intervention.
- Develop occupationally based intervention plans based on student needs and evaluation results.
- Participate in multidisciplinary meetings to review evaluations and develop Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
- Teach, monitor, and collaborate with educational personnel, community agencies, parents, and students.
- Provide continuing education and in-services for educational personnel, parents, and community-based service providers.
- Follow treatment plans and IEP goals to improve a child’s active participation in self-maintenance, work, leisure, and play.
- Take a caseload of a minimum of 45 30-minute sessions per week and cover other counselor sessions as needed.
- Ensure make-up sessions are completed and student mandate utilization is at or above 85% weekly.
- Maintain high standards of confidentiality, attendance, and flexibility.
- Maintain all required records and documentation.
- Recommend modifications to treatment approaches to reflect a child’s changing needs.
- Communicate and interact with other team members, school personnel, and families.
- Maintain treatment areas, equipment, and supply inventory.
- Develop and maintain a daily schedule, which includes students/classrooms and other activities/duties.
What We're Looking For
- Successful completion and graduation from an accredited occupational therapy professional program recognized by NBCOT, including all fieldwork requirements.
- Must possess State OTR/L Licensure in Washington state.
- Must have sensory knowledge.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Nice to Have
- One year of experience as an occupational therapist, preferably in a school system or other pediatric practice setting.
- Experience working with children with disabilities is a plus.
