About the Role

Gersh Autism Careers is hiring an Occupational Therapist to provide essential therapy support for children in grades K-12. In this role, you will independently review outcomes and modify programs while collaborating closely with other disciplines and services across the organization. You will report to the Program Director.

What You'll Do

  • Collaborate with other disciplines to ensure team understanding of student occupational performance strengths and needs.
  • Evaluate the student’s ability and formulate an occupational profile through assessments, observation, and interviews.
  • Synthesize evaluation results into a comprehensive written report to guide program development and intervention.
  • Develop occupationally based intervention plans based on student needs and evaluation results.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings to review evaluation results, offer recommendations, and develop IEPs.
  • Teach, monitor, and collaborate with educational personnel, community agencies, parents, and students.
  • Provide continuing education and in-services for educational personnel, parents, and community-based service providers.
  • Follow a treatment plan and IEP goals to improve a child’s participation in self-maintenance, work, leisure, and play.
  • Take a caseload of a minimum of 45 30-minute sessions per week and cover other counselor sessions as needed.
  • Ensure make-up sessions are completed and student mandate utilization is at or above 85% each week.
  • Maintain high standards of confidentiality, attendance, and flexibility.
  • Maintain records and documentation.
  • Recommend modification of treatment approaches to reflect the child’s changing needs.
  • Communicate and interact with other team members, school personnel, and families.
  • Maintain treatment areas, equipment, and supply inventory.
  • Develop and maintain a daily schedule.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Program Director.

What We're Looking For

  • Must have successfully completed and graduated from an accredited occupational therapy professional program recognized by NBCOT.
  • Must have completed all fieldwork requirements.
  • Must possess State OTR/L Licensure in the state in which you were hired.
  • Must have sensory knowledge.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice to Have

  • One year of experience as an occupational therapist, preferably in a school system or other pediatric practice setting.
  • Experience working with children with disabilities.
