The Ohio Attorney General's Office is seeking a professional Nurse to join our team serving within the Department of Developmental Disabilities. In this role, you will assess and evaluate the nursing and medical needs of institutionalized patients, direct the implementation of nursing care plans, and provide direct patient care.
What You'll Do
- Assess and evaluate the nursing and medical needs of patients who are institutionalized, initiating and directing the implementation of the nursing care plan.
- Observe, evaluate, and record patient behavior, condition, and response to medication, treatments, and therapeutic activities.
- Coordinate clinical and medical appointments.
- Provide professional nursing care, including administering medications and treatments as ordered by a physician, assisting with physical examinations, and taking and recording vital signs.
- Assist in feeding and grooming patients when needed.
- Conduct patient and family teaching and respond to emergencies.
- Direct and evaluate the psychiatric and nursing care delivered by lower-level professional and nonprofessional staff on your assigned shift.
- Monitor LPN medication administration, documentation, patient care, and the operation of medical equipment.
- Assist in orienting and training new nursing services employees.
- Prepare and review records and reports, such as incident reports, restraint/seclusion logs, nursing care plans, shift reports, and transfer/admission/discharge documentation.
- Update nursing care plans, transcribe and verify doctors' orders, write and review treatment plans, and write nursing summaries.
- Serve as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team.
- Attend seminars, meetings, and conferences, and participate in or conduct in-service training sessions and programs.

- Knowledge of state and federal regulations, policies, and procedures as related to nursing.
- Knowledge of public relations.
- Knowledge of counseling.
- Skill in the operation of medical equipment.
- Ability to deal with some abstract but mostly concrete variables.
- Ability to write meaningful, concise, and accurate reports.
- Ability to demonstrate physical fitness.
