WBKO, a Gray Media station, is hiring a News Anchor/Producer to join our team in Bowling Green, Kentucky. This role is crucial for our morning and midday newscasts, requiring a professional who can make our dominant #1 station’s programming unique and memorable.
What You'll Do
- Deliver on-air news events in an engaging, exciting, and accurate manner.
- Use editorial judgment to help determine the content of the newscasts.
- Work with reporters and the news team to create unique, fast-paced newscasts.
- Use creative production techniques such as graphics and new forms of media to enhance newscasts and stories.
- Write for the web and post daily on all digital platforms, including social media, and attach images and streaming video.
- Interview news subjects and research for facts and credibility.
- Deliver breaking news coverage and special event coverage to the community at large.
- Edit video for broadcasts and the web.
- Report live on the scene in breaking news or weather.
- Participate in community events and make public appearances on behalf of the station as assigned.
- Perform other tasks as required by news managers.
- Follow clothing and appearance guidelines set by news managers.
What We're Looking For
- Must be able to work flexible days and hours.
- Ability to handle moderate to high stress and deadline pressure.
- Successful completion of an MVR Check.
Nice to Have
- A degree in broadcast journalism.
- Strong editorial skills and a working knowledge of AP and Broadcast Style.
