Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality is hiring a Network Engineer

About the Role

The Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality seeks a Network Engineer for a full-time, in-person role at our Bossier Campus in Bossier City, LA. You will be central to maintaining daily operations, including our computer networks and phone system, with a focus on project planning, data center operations, routing, switching, and security.

What You'll Do

  • Assist with maintaining network infrastructure, operation, and design.
  • Install and maintain physical and virtual network hardware and cabling infrastructure.
  • Install, patch, and update network devices and computer systems.
  • Create and manage VMware virtual appliances for network management.
  • Manage DNS and DHCP servers.
  • Manage the VoIP phone system.
  • Manage routers, switches, firewalls, wireless LAN controllers, and access points.
  • Respond to and troubleshoot network-related issues.
  • Perform computer systems and network administrative tasks.
  • Assist in project planning and evaluating equipment and software requirements.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of all aspects of network and data center operations.
  • Maintain a close working relationship with the Sr. Network Engineer to ensure continuity.
  • Document and maintain current network drawings.
  • Monitor the network for anomalies.
  • Assist with computer forensic investigations or computer usage monitoring when requested.
  • Assist with any data center operations as needed.
  • Perform other duties as specified by supervisor.

What We're Looking For

  • An Associate degree in a related field OR two (2) years of work experience in computer network and telephone support.

Nice to Have

  • One (1) or more basic industry certifications such as Network+, Security+, Server+, A+, CCNA, or MCSE.
