Heartstrings Pet Hospice is hiring a Mobile Veterinarian

About the Role

Heartstrings Pet Hospice is looking for a Mobile Veterinarian to provide compassionate in-home euthanasia, hospice, and palliative care for pets. In this role, you will work independently in the field with full support from our medical leadership team and operational infrastructure. Your focus will be on meaningful, low-stress medicine that supports both pets and their families during a critical time.

What You'll Do

  • Provide in-home euthanasia, hospice, and palliative care in a compassionate, Fear Free–aligned manner.
  • Support families through the end-of-life process with empathy, patience, and professionalism.
  • Guide families in making end-of-life decisions for their pets.
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation.
  • Collaborate with Heartstrings’ medical leadership and support teams.
  • Participate in ongoing training, education, and clinical development.
  • Build relationships with local veterinary clinics, serving as an extension of their care.

What We're Looking For

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM, VMD, or BVMS) from an accredited veterinary school.
  • Active (or ability to obtain) veterinary license in the state of practice.
  • Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license.
  • Availability to work some weekends as part of a rotating schedule.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted and up to 100 lbs with assistance.
  • Subject to a background check and motor vehicle record (MVR) check post-hire.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in hospice, palliative care, or Fear Free certification is a plus.

Team & Environment

You will work independently in the field, supported by a collaborative medical leadership team and dedicated Veterinary Care Specialists. Heartstrings is a privately owned practice focused on people—families, patients, and our medical team. We operate with core values of Compassion, Dignity, and Respect, and you will have direct access to leadership and medical decision-makers. There is no private equity or volume-driven pressure, and your voice matters both clinically and professionally.

Benefits & Compensation

  • No non-compete agreement.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Short-term and long-term disability.
  • Paid time off.
  • DEA reimbursement.
  • State veterinary license reimbursement (including multi-state coverage).
  • Access to VetGirlU.
  • CE registration covered at conferences where Heartstrings exhibits.
  • All medical equipment, medications, and supplies provided.
  • Strong administrative, scheduling, and on-call leadership support.
  • Growth opportunities within a rapidly expanding, privately owned practice.

Work Mode

This role is local to the Austin, TX area. You will be providing mobile veterinary services in Austin, Round Rock, Pflugerville, Leander & Other Surrounding Areas.
