NetApp is hiring a Manager, Software Engineer to lead a team of performance analysis engineering professionals. You will be responsible for providing performance projections, guidance, characterization, analysis, and modeling across NetApp storage products, including hardware platforms and Data ONTAP software subsystems.
What You'll Do
- Manage performance analysis work for concurrent hardware and software projects for product releases.
- Ensure the team influences product designs for competitive performance, provides schedule/resource needs, and reports progress.
- Work with engineering development and product marketing teams to drive the performance agenda, establish objectives, and prioritize deliverables.
- Manage people, capital budget, and lab equipment resources for the Performance Team to ensure maximum productivity.
- Manage and drive resolution of critical performance issues and escalations in the field.
- Coordinate with customer support, field teams, and engineering teams to provide solutions for complex customer site performance issues.
- Manage hiring and staffing of the performance team to scale with future growth.
- Assist in driving the company-wide performance strategy and leading cross-organizational efforts to meet competitive performance goals.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, Master’s degree, or PhD; or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience as an individual contributor.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a people manager.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, critical projects.
- Clear understanding of the product development cycle, technical requirements, and project management.
- Strong understanding of enterprise hardware/software development and testing processes, preferably in computer server or storage systems.
- Strong understanding of performance benchmarks, analysis, and modeling concepts and methodology.
- Ability to manage professional level employees, many with advanced degrees.
- Ability to plan and track multiple concurrent projects across wide technical areas.
- Ability to deal with conflicting agendas, frequent emergencies, and demanding customers.
- Proven track record of building and maintaining strong teams.
Nice to Have
- Strong understanding of concepts related to computer architecture, file systems, and storage.
