Allegheny Health Network is hiring a Medical Assistant to support physicians and extenders within our orthopedic rehabilitation practice in Harmarville. This role provides essential medical and clerical support, ensuring efficient clinic workflow. Travel is required to support assigned providers at various satellite locations.
What You'll Do
- After training, perform clinical procedures including wound care, dressings, EKGs, suture/staple removal, and the application/removal of orthopedic casts and splints.
- Draw up injections, vaccines, and Botox, perform phlebotomy for PRP, and assist with ultrasound procedures.
- Assist in coordinating patient care under the supervision of the assigned health care provider.
- Prepare and room patients, document health information, history, and medications, and accurately interview patients.
- Order radiographs per physician protocols and accurately document all details in the electronic health record.
- Review and update allergy/medication lists and medical/surgical history.
- Function as a scribe to the provider when needed to maintain clinic workflow.
- Perform pre-visit chart management by obtaining diagnostic reports and reviewing charts for completion.
- Scan pertinent findings from outside information to physicians and staff as necessary.
- Educate patients on proper wound and pin care, cast care, and postoperative care per provider instructions.
- Prepare exam rooms, ensure adequate inventory of medical supplies, and stock patient treatment areas.
- Administer medication with documented training and competency (for Certified Medical Assistants).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Proof of graduation from an AHN-approved Medical Assistant School within five years of hire, OR a graduate from an accredited athletic training education program, OR relevant experience as determined by the company.
- Medical Assistant Certification or Athletic Trainer Licensure within 120 days of hire. New hires must complete certification training and/or attempt testing within 30 days.
- CPR certification from the American Heart Association.
- Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
- Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate.
- Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
Nice to Have
- 3-5 years of experience as an Ortho Technician, Medical Assistant, or Athletic Trainer Certified (ATC).
