Corewell Health is hiring a Medical Assistant III to support our Orthopedics clinic. You will work under the direction of management and physician leadership to perform clinical activities, manage patient flow, and ensure efficient clinic operations. This role is central to our ‘Service First’ philosophy, focusing on supporting physicians and staff while delivering excellent patient care.
What You'll Do
- Act as an assistant to physicians by providing primary healthcare and patient care management.
- Collaborate with clerical staff to optimize operations and patient flow.
- Interact with outside healthcare facilities and agencies regarding patient care and insurance.
- Maintain updated competencies and speak to leadership and accreditation bodies about process and workflow.
- Perform front office duties to provide coverage as needed.
- Provide coverage in other departments or locations as needed.
- Demonstrate excellent customer service skills and support a patient and family centered care model.
- Perform two formally assigned additional responsibilities, such as care gap identification, residency clinic roles, high-level disinfection, precepting, or serving as an EPIC Super User.
What We're Looking For
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a competency-based accredited MA program (including clinical rotation) or equivalent experience.
- 1 year (12 months) of MA experience; or completion of the CH MA internship plus 6 months experience; or completion of the CH MA apprenticeship program.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA or ARC within 30 days from hire.
- Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, etc.) within 90 days or a Michigan LPN license upon hire.
Nice to Have
- 2 years of MA experience.
