CVS Health is hiring a Medical Assistant II for our Rheumatology practice. In this role, you will support healthcare teams by assisting with clinical and non-clinical patient services under the direction of healthcare providers. You will collaborate directly with physicians, nurse practitioners, and nursing staff in a mission-driven patient care environment.
What You'll Do
- Assist Medical Assistants with day-to-day questions and participate in onboarding training to facilitate learning.
- Prepare patients for examination, obtain medical information, measure vital signs, weight, and height, and record data in the patient's medical record.
- Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, and physician instructions to patients.
- Perform general office duties, serve as a liaison between departments, and advocate for patients with a positive customer service approach.
- Collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log them, and prepare them for testing.
- Maintain inventory of immunizations and check expiration dates.
- Improve departmental quality initiatives, such as two patient identifiers and hand hygiene.
- Stock and maintain exam and treatment rooms.
- Maintain a clean, hygienic environment by disinfecting and preparing clinic rooms before and after each patient visit.
- Perform scanning and cross-over coverage as needed.
- Perform prior authorizations for prescriptions and radiology exams.
- Assist physician procedures.
What We're Looking For
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- 1-2 years of direct Medical Assistant experience or work in the medical field
- Ability to take vital signs and manual blood pressure, and collect blood samples and other specimens
- Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and protocols
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical office software
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks in complex and busy environments
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Compliance with all local, state, and federal privacy and confidentiality rules and regulations
- Ability to use logic and reasoning to evaluate alternative solutions or approaches
- Strong time management skills
Nice to Have
- Associate's Degree in Medical Assisting
- Basic Life Support (BLS Certification)
- Certified Medical Assistant (National Certification)
