About the Role

Colac Area Health is hiring a Media Liaison Officer for the NSW Early Learning Commission, the independent regulator for early childhood education and care in NSW. You will play a key role in managing the Commission's strategic media engagement, working closely with executives, senior staff, and Ministerial offices.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and implement effective media strategies.
  • Coordinate timely responses to media enquiries and prepare holding statements during critical incidents.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal teams, journalists, and media outlets.
  • Monitor and manage media risk and provide timely advice to mitigate issues.
  • Provide media support to internal stakeholders including drafting talking points, holding statements, and providing media coaching.

What We're Looking For

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and/or demonstrated relevant equivalent professional experience and training.
  • Current and valid Working with Children Check Clearance for paid employment.
  • Willingness and ability to work a schedule that requires out of hours work, and during holiday periods.
  • Proven success developing media strategies, drafting media releases, holding statements, and liaising directly with mainstream journalists on story development, ideally within a public, private sector or NGO setting.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of early childhood education and care.
  • Solid experience in media, journalism, or public relations.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with a range of internal and external stakeholders to deliver successful news media strategies.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage time-sensitive and competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Meticulous attention to detail to ensure the accuracy and quality of media content.
