Alstom is looking for a Mechanical System Engineer to define standard architectures for mechanical train subsystems and provide technical support to projects. You will be responsible for translating architectures at the project level, leading engineering activities for your assigned System Architecture Area, and coordinating the development and technical procurement of mechanical subsystems.
What You'll Do
- Develop technical requirements based on reference documents such as standards, certification, safety, platform, and customer needs.
- Allocate requirements to subsystems and develop transversal requirements with domain specialists.
- Define train system architecture, operating modes, and associated functionalities.
- Ensure consistency and compatibility among all subsystem specifications.
- Prepare subsystem specifications and architectural descriptions.
- Complete the 'Entry connector' to query the standard product catalogue.
- For non-catalogue products: draft preliminary technical specs during bid phase, prepare final technical specs for supplier consultation, manage technical interactions until design freeze, lead technical relationship with suppliers, and participate in technical Design Reviews.
- Support the TPM in defining the applicable train configuration.
- Coordinate interfaces, performance aspects, and technical issue resolution among engineering teams during detailed design.
- Participate in technical meetings with the customer upon request.
What We're Looking For
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings and functional schematics.
- Familiarity with technical procurement processes and supplier management.
- Very good written and spoken English proficiency.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with railway mechanical systems.
- Experience in System Engineering and Requirements Management (DOORS, Polarion, or equivalent).
- Knowledge of railway standards (EN, IEC, RAMS regulations, safety standards).
- Expertise in system architectures and subsystem interface management.
