About the Role

Blew & Associates, P.A. is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to analyze, design, and document mechanical systems for building projects. This role focuses on HVAC system design, preparation of construction documents, and technical support during construction, with additional involvement in Property Condition Assessments.

What You'll Do

  • Design mechanical and HVAC systems in accordance with applicable codes and standards
  • Perform engineering calculations for heating, cooling, ventilation, and mechanical equipment selection
  • Develop construction documents including drawings, schedules, and specifications
  • Coordinate mechanical designs with architectural, structural, electrical, and plumbing disciplines
  • Review submittals and shop drawings for technical compliance
  • Respond to requests for information (RFIs) during construction
  • Conduct site visits to verify field conditions and observe installation progress
  • Maintain project documentation and revise designs as required
  • Evaluate mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and related building systems as part of Property Condition Assessments (PCAs)
  • Prepare PCA reports in accordance with applicable ASTM standards
  • Coordinate with clients, internal teams, and third-party consultants for PCA and design efforts

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field
  • Experience designing mechanical systems for buildings
  • Working knowledge of HVAC systems, mechanical equipment, and building systems
  • Familiarity with relevant mechanical codes and standards
  • Ability to perform independent engineering calculations
  • Experience preparing or contributing to Property Condition Assessment (PCA) reports
  • Proficiency with engineering design and documentation software
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Revit or similar BIM software
  • Experience with load calculations and energy analysis tools
  • Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain licensure
