Kiewit Corporation was looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer

Kiewit Corporation is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to support nuclear projects, focusing on construction-driven engineering, safe and innovative design, and project execution. You will work within our nuclear market to apply integrated engineering processes and technical problem-solving.

What You'll Do

  • Carry out integrated engineering processes to meet project goals and deadlines.
  • Author and review designs, specifications, analyses, and drawings in line with engineering standards.
  • Create and assess concept drawings for equipment using multidisciplinary input.
  • Identify, define, and resolve issues within your assigned scope.
  • Ensure compliance with strict quality assurance standards and timely project delivery.
  • Occasional travel is required (less than 20%).

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited four-year university.
  • 7–10+ years of experience in commercial or DOE nuclear design.
  • Proficient in ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel and piping codes.
  • Skilled in engineering design principles (e.g., GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, interference checks).
  • Experienced in equipment design and procurement using pertinent industry codes.
  • Familiar with creating PFDs, P&IDs, and general arrangement drawings for equipment packages.
  • Proven ability to work with engineers and fabricators to develop designs and drawings.
  • Strong attention to detail, communication, organization, analytical thinking, and problem-solving.

Nice to Have

  • FE/EIT recommended.
  • PE license is preferred.

Work Mode

This role operates on a hybrid schedule. Positions are available in Lenexa, KS; Oak Ridge, TN; Lonetree, CO; Houston, TX; and Aiken, SC.
