Sedgwick is hiring a Marine Cargo Surveyor to join our Marine Division. In this role, you will inspect cargo damaged during transit, determine the nature, cause, and extent of damages, and provide written reports with qualified opinions on the cause of loss. You’ll conduct independent evaluations across diverse marine cases while collaborating with global clients.
What You'll Do
- Oversee loading and unloading of cargo from ships and other transit to document damages.
- Inspect damaged ships to determine cause and extent of damage from collisions or failures.
- Travel as required to conduct on-site surveys and evaluations.
- Review documents to determine when cargo was damaged.
- Provide written reports to underwriters and other parties.
What We're Looking For
- Five (5) years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to travel as required by case assignments.
- Credit security clearance, confirmed via a background credit check.
Nice to Have
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Strong background in handling cargo claims, hull and machinery assessments, yacht damage assessments, or investigating marine equipment failures.
Technical Stack
- PC literate, including proficiency with Microsoft Office products.

This position is part of Sedgwick's Marine Division, working independently on diverse cases while collaborating with a global team.

Work Mode
This is a remote position open to candidates based in or near Los Angeles, California. The role requires travel for on-site inspections.
