As the Manager, Transition, you will play a central role in preparing renewable energy assets for operational excellence. Your focus will be on ensuring that solar, battery energy storage (BESS), and wind projects are fully ready for safe, reliable, and compliant operations upon handover from construction. You will work closely with engineering, operations, and commissioning teams to align project milestones with long-term operational needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage early in project development by attending kickoffs and design reviews to provide operational input on constructability and long-term maintainability
- Coordinate readiness planning across O&M functions, including spare parts procurement, grid interconnection agreements, and SCADA integration
- Lead or co-lead critical readiness reviews ahead of substation energization, commercial operation date (COD), and final transition to operations
- Ensure field teams are trained, equipped, and integrated into commissioning activities, including switching plans, alarm response, and NERC compliance
- Oversee the transfer of essential documentation, permits, and technical records into operational repositories
- Support hiring and onboarding of field personnel and ensure alignment with project timelines
- Drive resolution of punchlist items, conduct root cause assessments, and monitor performance during early operations
- Collaborate with EPC and OEM partners to deliver comprehensive training and ensure systems meet operational standards
Qualifications and Experience
You bring hands-on experience in utility-scale renewable energy projects, with a background in operations, construction, or project management. Familiarity with SCADA systems, electrical commissioning, and grid compliance is essential. Prior work in solar, BESS, or wind environments is highly valued.
Work Environment
This is a hybrid position requiring presence within driving distance of an AES office, preferably in the Eastern or Central time zones. You will work standard business hours in those regions and travel to project sites approximately 20% of the time. Flexibility may be considered for exceptional candidates outside preferred locations.
