Lead financial reporting and technical accounting for a rapidly scaling technology organization preparing for public market entry. This role is central to ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely financial disclosures as the company advances toward IPO and establishes public company reporting standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the preparation and review of the S-1 registration statement, including financial statements, Management’s Discussion and Analysis (MD&A), and footnotes, ensuring alignment with SEC regulations and U.S. GAAP
- Collaborate with FP&A, Legal, and Investor Relations to ensure financial disclosures support the company’s strategic narrative
- Coordinate with external auditors, legal advisors, and valuation experts to support audit processes and filing requirements
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports in accordance with U.S. GAAP, including future 10-K and 10-Q filings
- Develop and maintain technical accounting memos to support audits, SEC reviews, and internal documentation
- Support SOX 404(a) compliance by enhancing internal controls and financial reporting documentation
- Assist in the development and refinement of accounting policies and procedures to meet public company standards
- Review and assess the financial impact of new contracts, business initiatives, and accounting standards
- Monitor emerging FASB guidance and lead implementation of new accounting standards
- Drive process improvements, automation, and scalability within financial reporting functions
- Provide technical guidance to internal stakeholders and mentor team members on complex accounting topics
- Lead special projects related to financial reporting, controls, and system implementations
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience with a focus on technical accounting and financial reporting
- Active CPA certification
- Deep understanding of U.S. GAAP and experience resolving complex accounting research issues
- Background at a Big 4 accounting firm or within a high-growth technology organization
- Proficiency in NetSuite and advanced Excel skills
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities
- Highly organized with excellent time management, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently
- Adaptable and proactive in a fast-moving, evolving environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Direct experience supporting an S-1 filing and transition to public company reporting
- Experience in a national accounting practice or advisory role
- Background in startups or high-growth tech environments
- Familiarity with AI, SaaS, IaaS, or consumption-based revenue models
- Knowledge of SEC reporting requirements and public disclosure practices
- Track record of implementing new accounting standards and improving financial processes
- Experience supporting ERP or financial system implementations
- Ability to distill complex accounting concepts into clear, actionable guidance
- Proven initiative in identifying and driving process improvements
