The Machine Learning Fellow role in the Human Frontier Collective (HFC) at Scale AI is a fully remote 1099 independent contractor position lasting approximately six months, with potential for extension. Fellows will work closely with top AI labs and Scale AI’s research team to design, evaluate, and optimize advanced generative AI systems while contributing to high-impact research and publications.
What You'll Do
- Engage in high-impact ML projects with partnered AI labs and platforms
- Help models understand real-world deep learning workflows
- Design, review, and optimize PyTorch models
- Evaluate complex ML code and AI-generated implementations for efficiency and correctness
- Advise on GPU optimization, scaling, and trade-offs
- Become part of an interdisciplinary network of innovators and thought leaders advancing frontier AI
- Collaborate with Scale’s research team to co-author technical reports and research papers
- Contribute to research publications such as SciPredict, PropensityBench, and Professional Reasoning Benchmark
What We're Looking For
- PhD or postdoctoral degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field
- 1-3+ years of experience as a Machine Learning Engineer or Data Scientist
- Strong proficiency in Python and modern ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow)
Nice to Have
- Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS)
- Experience with MLOps tools (Docker, Langchain)
