Soracom is seeking a Legal Counsel to join its rapidly growing IoT startup and play a key role in global expansion, focusing on business outside Japan. You will have full exposure to a wide range of commercial legal tasks, working within a very small legal team.
What You'll Do
- Draft, review, and negotiate myriad contracts across diverse global regions.
- Conduct legal research and participate in compliance management activities.
- Cooperate with HR to develop internal policies addressing regulations across various jurisdictions.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of experience reviewing and drafting contracts in English.
- Legal qualification as a qualified UK solicitor, US attorney, or Japanese Bengoshi (5+ years in-house or private practice experience; other jurisdictions considered).
- Excellent skills in coordinating with outside counsel.
- Native-level English proficiency.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Commercially minded with a pragmatic approach.
- Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, ever-evolving environment.
- Strong cross-cultural communication skills.
- Willingness to actively leverage generative AI to enhance work quality and drive business impact.
Nice to Have
- Experience in regulatory compliance, especially telecom-related regulations.
- Business-level Japanese proficiency.
- Work experience in the telecommunications industry.
- Knowledge of IT and technology trends.
- Experience in a startup or similarly fast-moving environment.
Team & Environment
You will join a company of nearly 200 individuals globally, working within a very small legal team and collaborating closely with different small teams internally.
Work Mode
This role is remote, located in Japan.
