About the Role

Flinders University is hiring a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health to deliver high-quality, student-centred education. This Teaching Specialist (Academic) position is based at our Darwin office and focuses on curriculum development in Indigenous health within the College of Medicine and Public Health.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the development and delivery of Indigenous health curriculum.
  • Deliver high-quality, student-centred education aligned with the University’s strategic plan.
  • Focus teaching on cultural safety, primary health care, and population health.
  • Foster industry partnerships and deliver innovative placement models (Level C).
  • Provide high-quality clinical education (Level C).
  • Engage in teaching scholarship and ongoing professional development in higher education.

What We're Looking For

  • Completion of a PhD or equivalent qualification.
  • Identification as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person and recognition by an appropriate community body.
  • A strong understanding of Indigenous health and a proven ability to work respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
  • Evidence of independent innovation in teaching delivery or design, including the effective use of e-learning technologies (Level B).
  • Experience engaging with relevant external professional or community groups at a local, national, or international level (Level B).
  • Qualifications or experience in Indigenous health, health professions, or curriculum design and teaching (Level B).
  • An understanding of pedagogical theory and current education practices relevant to Medicine (Level C).
  • Sustained excellence in tertiary teaching, including simulation and clinical settings (Level C).
  • Willingness and ability to engage in teaching scholarship and ongoing professional development in higher education (Level C).
  • Established relationships with Indigenous communities, groups, and organisations (Level C).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with staff, students, and industry partners.

  • Compensation: Academic Level B: $113,211 - $133,974 p.a. | Academic Level C: $138,124 - $158,885 p.a.

This is an onsite position based at the Larrakia – Darwin office.
