Lendable is looking for a Lead React Web Engineer to join our SuperApp engineering group, focusing on the Zable website as a primary channel for customers to discover and use our products. You will own and improve core customer journeys from discovery through to application and self-service.
What You'll Do
- Provide technical leadership for web work on the Zable website, setting direction for designing and building React and TypeScript front ends.
- Work with product managers and designers to turn ideas into clear, deliverable web projects, breaking them into stages for multiple teams.
- Design and review front-end architecture and patterns, helping the team choose sensible abstractions and manage complexity.
- Guide our approach to testing and quality for Zable web journeys, setting expectations for unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
- Lead efforts to improve performance, reliability, and accessibility on the Zable website, using metrics and tools to spot and address issues.
- Identify and communicate technical debt and platform risks, balancing new feature work with necessary code and architecture improvements.
- Mentor and support other engineers through design discussions, code reviews, and pairing.
- Collaborate with other technical leads to align on shared standards and coordinate cross-team initiatives.
What We're Looking For
- Deep experience building and scaling React applications in production, with strong knowledge of TypeScript and modern web engineering practices.
- Experience working with product owners to break down business requirements into deliverable tasks, estimate complexity, and plan work.
- Ability to identify technical challenges from designs, propose alternative approaches, and explain trade-offs clearly.
- Passion for building high-performing teams, improving team flow, and encouraging individual accountability for delivery.
- Experience mentoring and supporting other engineers to encourage their personal and professional growth.
- Track record of leading on automated testing and quality, setting the standard for testing practices.
- Comfort identifying and assessing technical debt in web systems and advocating for prioritizing improvements.
- Awareness of accessibility needs for web users and familiarity with approaches to meet guidelines and best practices.
Nice to Have
- Experience leading web teams that have built products scaling to very large user bases.
- Experience with frameworks for larger web applications, for example NextJS or similar stacks.
- Experience scaling React-based platforms across multiple teams with shared components, tooling, and standards.
