Midnite is seeking a Lead Platform Software Engineer to ensure our platform is always up, fast, and resilient. You will help build the Australian backend team by setting engineering practices and culture, and will be a key person for incident response and reliability improvements.
What You'll Do
- Design, develop, test, and maintain software and systems.
- Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code.
- Participate in code reviews and ensure the quality of the codebase.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies.
- Participate in daytime on-call and incident response roster with some daytime weekend work.
- Identify and drive vital reliability improvement work, including overall systems design and architecture.
- Focus on Platform Engineering to accelerate Midnite’s engineering efficiency as the Australia team grows.
- Able to travel for quarterly team meet ups in an Australian capital city.

- Familiarity with Python, Flask, Pytest, Mypy, Docker, PostgreSQL, SQS, S3, Terraform, and AWS.

Team & Environment
You'll be part of the Australia team, which is growing, and will collaborate with UK-based Platform and Backend Engineering teams. The team is Site Operations, comprised of SREs and Backend Engineers, and you will report to the Site Operations Lead.
