Amber is hiring a Lead Game Engineer to play a pivotal role in our game development lifecycle. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional development teams, primarily located in Montreal, Mexico, and Romania, to ensure the delivery of high-quality games.
What You'll Do
- Interface with engineers and stakeholders to establish development roadmaps for frontend and backend.
- Be accountable for project-wide engineering task estimations and manage changes in planning and scope.
- Participate in customer-facing meetings to gather technical requirements.
- Evaluate technical documentation and software.
- Develop technical proposals, including task breakdowns and delivery timelines.
- Review and provide guidance on engineering architecture.
- Develop core features and components.
- Debug code and perform bug fixes to ensure software stability.
- Oversee backend development and guide the backend team on functional requirements and integrations.
- Coordinate production pipeline requirements with internal and external CI/CD and QA teams.
- Review and support project performance monitoring and improvement.
What We're Looking For
- 7+ years of experience creating and delivering Game/Engine Technology and games.
- Understanding of online architecture basics and integration with frontend systems.
- Solid technical knowledge across multiple areas, especially implementing games using Unreal Engine.
- Experience using generative AI for conversational games, mainly with In-World API and agents (Bedrock or similar tools).
- Expert knowledge of C++, good knowledge of C#, and engine-level AI tools within Unreal Engine.
- Knowledge in Character and animation setup, including real-time Lip-sync solutions and Metahuman.
- General LLM knowledge, including text analysis, response generation, Text-to-speech with voice clone, Guardrails filtering, and speech recognition.
- Excellent soft skills and communication abilities in English.
- Experience developing technical architecture and implementing design principles and patterns.
- Experience interfacing with and guiding frontend and backend teams.
- Experience using Jenkins or other CI/CD toolchains.
- Experience using Perforce.
Nice to Have
- Online development expertise, preferably using GCP or AWS.
- Strong debugging experience using Unreal profiling tools.
- Knowledge about Proton.
