SP Transmission PLC is hiring a Lead Engineer - Protection Asset Strategy to define and oversee the asset management strategies critical for the UK's Transmission and Distribution Network. Your work will directly support the nation's Net Zero target by ensuring the resilience and performance of Protection Systems.
What You'll Do
- Define, approve, and monitor policies for the application, design, and resilience of Protection Systems across the Transmission and Distribution Licences.
- Define Inspection, Maintenance, Defects management, and End of Life policies.
- Support the development of asset data models and information systems to monitor policy implementation and NIS Cyber Security compliance.
- Support the development of asset risk and performance methodologies that inform investment strategies.
- Define strategic long-term plans for Protection Systems, developing investment need cases as required.
- Establish effective communication with Operational teams to monitor the delivery of business plans.
- Lead the review of Protection Faults and Failures, articulating lessons learned and remediation actions.
- Be at the forefront of industry innovation for Protection Assets, leveraging new technology to improve network performance.
- Support engagement with other industry stakeholders on Protection Systems, representing SPEN in Asset Management group discussions.
- Ensure long term asset stewardship to maximise outperformance opportunity from Regulatory settlement whilst maintaining system integrity and NIS compliance.
- Support engagement with key Government and industry stakeholders on the development of Protection Systems’ asset management.
What We're Looking For
- A degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Expert knowledge of Protection Systems for electrical networks, including the use of IEC 61850.
- Good knowledge of asset management systems and the ISO 55000 framework.
- Good knowledge of the regulatory requirements impacting on SPEN, particularly the NIS regulations.
- Ability to translate strategic thinking and direction into policies and deliverable plans.
- Ability to influence and collaborate with senior managers across SPEN and the wider industry.
- Strong commercial understanding of value and risk inherent in Energy Networks.
- Ability to understand complex industry mechanisms and identify and drive value enhancing opportunities.
- Excellent communication skills and an ability to present technical matters to a non-technical audience.
